During the morning service on Sunday 6 April Chris Walley, a member of the church council and a regular preacher, was formally licensed as a Reader in Holy Trinity, having completed the training course in January after two years of intensive study. In his role as Area Dean, our chaplain Giles led the ceremony, which involved formally presenting Chris to the congregation, an affirmation of God’s calling by Chris and a declaration of his faith in the creeds and the historic beliefs of the Church of England. The congregation affirmed that they would pray for him and support him. Giles presented Chris with a copy of the New Testament and a blue scarf. Chris joins David Sinclair and Chris Williams as a third lay reader.
