Coming towards the end of this little book we’ve seen how Nehemiah’s focus has shifted: from his sadness and pain at the physical state of Jerusalem, to an even greater concern for the spiritual condition of God’s people. They might have finished their building project with bricks and mortar, but the spiritual building work had only just begun. In the last section we were witnesses as God’s word was read aloud to the people. This week we’ll see the people respond together in repentance and faith.
