Reading and Sermon Christmas Day 25 2024

2/January/2025

Seven hundred years later, in a little town called Bethlehem, the Lord God came good on his promise. Mary and Jospeh laid the baby in the manger – Jesus, the saviour had arrived. God’s Christmas gift to a lost and hurting world – maybe not the gift that we were expecting – but according to the Bible, Jesus is the gift that we all need. Right through his life, Jesus showed us more and more about who he was and what he had come to do. Healing the sick, calming a storm and feeding the five thousand. But it was at the end of his life that Jesus truly became the saviour. Freedom for us carried a very high price. Yet he went to the cross as a ransom for many. God the Father demonstrates his own love for us in this: whilst we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
