We all woke up today at nine o’clock feeling sleepy, and ready to eat the pancakes that were served by the lovely cooks. We commenced our daily morning Bible reading session at 9:30am, which was led by Benjamin. We learned about the Sabbath and what Jesus meant when he talked about old and new wine skins.
After that interesting discussion, we were able to serve maize porridge to hundreds of children during their break time. After feeding the children, we washed all the cups that were used to feed them. This was very special.

We split up into groups to go to different classes; some went to Maths class and some to an English class. Another team went to see a P6 Social Studies class. It was amazing to watch the classes and to see the enthusiasm in the eyes of the kids as well as the wonderful teachers, who only have chalk and old blackboards to work with.

A delicious lunch followed this eventful morning comprising chips, chicken, coleslaw and for dessert there was pineapple. We all then had a competition to find out how to say some phrases in the local language. We were all meant to ask the children, but we have photographic evidence, that some got help from the teachers!
Soon after, we went back to the school grounds and we entertained the children with sports, such as volleyball and rugby, for a couple hours, even the teachers joined in! At the same time, some of us read stories to the boarders or did some craft with them. Everyone decided to hand wash their dirty clothes to then dry in the beautiful African weather.
Most of us went for a really difficult hike and climbed up the steep, slippery slope, that we can see from the school, with some of the schoolchildren. It was a struggle to get up to the top, but once we did we stopped for a while and we took in the breathtaking view. We watched the sun go down. It was so beautiful.
After our great success we arrived back at the lodge to be greeted by a well deserved meal surrounded by our friends. We then had some more Bible study, led by Claire and had a lovely time sharing our stories about what we all did and saw today. As Giles and Claire decided that everyone who did the competition today was a winner, we all got a prize!
