Uganda Day 6 Thursday 18 July

After sleeping with the soothing lullaby of Jordan’s nasal mishaps, we woke up to a beautiful natural landscape and had a simple yet delicious breakfast of…bread and egg, whilst admiring the hippos. We then headed off in the two vans to do some more animal spotting. After seeing a few more baboons and kobs, we then set off towards Lake Edward and Lake George.
We arrived at Lake Edward slightly before lunch, where a local man called Omar, took us up to the lake front where he explained some rather interesting facts about the hippo way of life, where we learnt about some murderous and incestuous tendencies among hippos (we’ll keep it PG for now, we’ll tell you later). We then sat down for an amazing fish dish. We were served fresh Talapia caught in Lake Edward, which we could see whilst eating. The fish was so delicious, that Charlie and Josh, couldn’t resist the crunchy, vitamin filled eyeballs (yum yum).

We then headed off, to a channel joining the two big lakes (Edward and George) where we got on a private boat, for a guided tour. During this, we saw so many different birds and animals. We saw a herd of elephants in the channel, drinking and cooling off, surrounded by a school of hippos and some loser water buffalos (no joke, this is their name).

We also saw a mummy croc guarding her eggs. Other reptilian creatures and birds were spotted, such as the king fisher. After the boat trip, we went on another land safari and saw another lion lounging in the sunshine.

We polished off the Crunchy Daddies today and deeply missed the Gorrilos.
We then arrived at Dennis’ lake retreat where we showered off all the muck we had gathered upon our faces and then sat down to another exotic meal of KFC (Kentucky Fried Catfish). We then all sat down to do some Bible study and it struck us that we are really looking forward to getting back to the kids and the school and to do some more volunteering. We are all now sat round the campfire, collectively writing this blog, some more than others (wink wink Emilie and Gabriela you’ll do it next time).
Peace and blessings to all of you cool cats back home. In a while crocodiles XD.

PS. Mark is sat there shaking his head in disapproval of this blog, but never mind! (please don’t change it)
